WOOD BURNING CAMP STOVE TIPS

Put 1/2" - 1" of mineral dirt (no duff) or sand in firebox to help protect stove bottom from burn-out.

NEVER place stove directly on a tent floor or other flammable material.  The use of a fire retardant floor liner is highly recommended if your tent has a sewn- in floor.

Keep a nonflammable area in front of the stove in case sparks or wood fall out when you open the door.

Always be sure your stove is on a level surface.

Never allow the stove or stovepipe to get red hot. This will warp the metal. Reduce airflow on your door air intake to reduce stove temperature.

Water in the water tank normally doesn't boil.  Use a pot on the stove top to boil drinking water.

Never store your stove with ash in the firebox. The ash will draw moisture which will rust your stove.

Initial use of the stove should be outside of your tent for 1-2 hours. This will burn off oils used in manufacturing and keep the tent from getting smokey.
